The Davis Security Institute offers a Concealed Weapons Course. This course meets or exceeds Florida standards for training those private citizens who will carry sidearms for self-defense. The course consists of training in Florida’s self-defense, firearms, use-offorce and arrest laws as well as tactical training and live fire qualification.
The philosophy of the training is that an armed citizen must be prepared to survive both the physical attack and the subsequent legal attack. Surviving both attacks requires knowledge and training.
In the Concealed Weapon Course, students are taught that the mind is the ultimate weapon in armed confrontations. A citizen must have both the skill and the will to survive and win a gunfight.
Topics taught in the 4 hour course include:
Florida laws.
Operation of both revolvers and semiautomatic sidearms.
Safety of weapons in public and at home.
Tactical shooting, accurate shot placement
After-action safety considerations; scanning for additional targets.
A student is welcome to qualify with two types of sidearms at no additional cost. Targets will be furnished.
