John R. Kachenmeister, Firearms Instructor

John R. Kachenmeister, Davis Security Institute’s instructor of Firearms and General Security, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice administration from the University of Toledo (Ohio). He has served for 25 years as a police officer in Toledo, retiring in 2001 as a patrolman and traffic homicide investigator. He also has extensive military service, with enlisted service as a hospital corpsman with the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps, and service in the U.S. Army as a military policeman and military police commissioned officer.
Mr. Kachenmeister retired from the Army with the rank of major, after having seen combat service in Vietnam and overseas service in the Philippines, Japan, Panama, and Honduras.
He has served in various police assignments, including patrol officer, academy instructor, detective, and accident investigator. After his retirement from the police department, he has worked extensively in both armed and unarmed private security duties.
He has been on the staff of the Davis Security Institute since 2007, and attended the National Rifle Association police firearms instructor course in Texas in 2008.
Mr. Kachenmeister is a licensed pilot, and volunteers his time and efforts as a major the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary.
He resides in Viera, Florida with his wife, Nancie. He has two grown children and two grandchildren.
